The story of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Adweso-Koforidua, is a profound testament to the phrase Onyame ayɛ bi—God has indeed done it. From our humble beginnings in 1970s, we have grown from a small gathering of faithful souls into a vibrant spiritual beacon, built upon the sacrifices of pioneer parishioners and the dedicated priests who laid our foundation. As we approach our Golden Jubilee, we aren’t just looking back at fifty years of history; we are looking forward to the legacy we will leave for the next generation.

To honor this milestone, we have embarked on a necessary and ambitious journey: the Anniversary Church Renovation Project. This is more than a simple facelift; it is a vital restoration of our sanctuary. Our church has served us faithfully for decades, but the passage of time has made its mark. The urgency of this work was never clearer than during our recent celebrations, where we have gathered with the roof removed, standing exposed to the elements but united in spirit. This project seeks to provide a home worthy of our worship, involving a complete unroofing and replacement with high-quality materials, the installation of a magnificent new ceiling crafted from premium Emeri and Asanfina wood, full electrical rewiring, and essential repairs to protect our grounds for years to come.

We are already a community in motion, and the progress we have made is a source of immense pride. With over GHS 500,000 already invested into the roofing and ceiling components, our momentum has even drawn the admiration of many who have commended the dedication of our work. We have successfully navigated the most difficult phases of unroofing and are now advancing steadily through the electrical and aesthetic finishing stages. Under the steadfast leadership of our Parish Priest and the Central Planning Committee, we are proving that no challenge is too great when we work as a unified team, with God on our side.
