Vision:
To support the broader CCR Ghana vision of bringing about spiritual renewal and evangelization in the Catholic Church in Ghana and beyond.

Mission:
To “fan into flame the gifts of the Holy Spirit” (2 Timothy 1:6–7) and re-live the Pentecost experience (Acts 2–4) in the Catholic Church.

Historical Background and Growth of St. Dominic CCR

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal at St Dominic Catholic Church began in the late 1980s, with structured activities dating back to 1994. St George Cathedral hosted weekly prayer meetings. Following the advice of Fr. Sprehe, SVD, the group moved its meetings to Adweso and eventually started prayer meeting at 3pm every Sunday. This sparked a revival that positively impacted the parish's spiritual life; additionally, the group's music ministry quickly became known for leading Good Friday ministrations that enriched the parish's spiritual atmosphere. 

The first coordinator, Mrs. Opoku Boateng (the late), led a group of about 40 to 50 committed members during prayer meetings. Among the early members were Mrs. Anna Coffie, Mrs. Atiemo, Mr. Ambrose (the late), Mr. Amuzu, Mrs. Bernice Otoo, and Mrs. Angmor. With the emergence of many societies in the St Dominic Catholic Church, many of the CCR members became the leaders of the various societies as a result of the spiritual and catechetical formation they had received. The impact of this was the strengthening of the church as the numerical strength of the core members reduced. Other ministries were also formed until today.

City Prayer Meetings are hosted in rotation within the Koforidua Diocese.

All-night prayer vigils are occasionally held.

Membership Criteria

To join the CCR, one must:

Be a baptized Catholic;

Be an active parishioner involved in sacramental life; and

Be willing to grow spiritually and serve the Church
